Cancer Center Treatment Center’s Eastern Regional Medical Center in Philadelphia opened a $14.5 million Stem Cell Transplant and Cell Therapy Unit Monday.
The 17,000-square-foot unit was created to care for patients with hematologic malignancies, which are cancers of the blood or bone marrow. The unit has eight inpatient rooms, a dedicated infusion suite and a stem cell collection unit to treat patients with acute and chronic leukemias, lymphomas, multiple myeloma and related cancers.
The inpatient rooms are designed like studio apartments, featuring a sitting area with a separate sofa bed and television for caregivers.
